Drug Uses
Protonix is used to cure erosive esophagitis or severe erosion of the esophagus caused by stomach acids rising back into the esophagus continually. Usage You may take Protonix with or without a meal. But ensure that you swallow the capsule whole without crushing or chewing it. Missed Dose You should try and take your doses on time taking care not to miss any. But if you do miss a dose, then skip it and continue with your regular dose. But do not take a double dose. Storage Store it at room temperature. Overdose Very little is known about a Protonix overdose. But seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose. Protonix: I was prescribed Protonix 20 mg which I took daily for 30 days. Extended use is not recommended, and I did not surpass the 30 days. I do buy extra strength Tums and take it if I have any real acid or spicy foods. The bottom line is I had a lot of pain with my ucler which came out of nowhere and after almost 2 weeks of pain I decided I needed to see a doctor. Soon after taking Protonix my pain went away, but as with any ulcer a diet change might be in order. Similar drugs are Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, etc.
Protonix: I took the Protonix once a day approxiamtely 30 minutes before eating breakfast.
Protonix: Took 1 40 mg tablet in the morning before my first meal and controlled the acid reflux symptoms and stomach aches. Then took 1 40 mg tablet before I went to bed to once again control those symptoms while sleeping for a 24 hour effect.
Protonix: Took medicine as prescribed, twice daily
Protonix: Instructed by Ear-Nose - Throat Specialist to take pills with water 30 to 60 minutes - before Breakfast and then same time frame before Dinner. 40mg
Protonix: I pill a day and all has been well. =D
Protonix: One tablet once a day
Protonix: Not sure what this means - I take a single dose in the AM and try to avoid trigger foods/beverages like chocolate and caffeine.
Protonix: Diagnosed with Gastritis, ulcerated esophagus and hiatal hernia. 80 mg dosage. Most time symptoms are tolerable. Taking Zantac along with Protonix. One pill in am and 1 pill in pm. Does not last the full 12 hours so have discomfort when that happens.
Protonix: I've been on Protonix for 5 years.Three months ago my insurance company said they would not pay for it anymore and I had to take Nexium.After 1 month I was having heartburn everyday.Told my pharmacist and he had me try the generic Protonix.
