Allopurinol: Have noticed lower back pain into my 9 weeks of taking RX, (may not be related.) Gout attacks had become numerous and effecting more joints each attack, before beginning alopurinol. No severe attacks for last 3-weeks. Something seems to be working. 100mg daily dose. Drowsiness may or may not be associated as I also take 9 other meds daily. No stomach problems. If it stops the gout....I'm all for it....

Allopurinol: Had frequent(4 per year) gout attacks that lasted several weeks the last one lasted 10 weeks. When the attack was over, took allopurinol in 100mg doses and increased to 300mg in 3 weeks. So far, I have had no severe allergic reactions. I had diahrea at first and now is slowly going away. I noticed lightheadiness when standing up and is less frequent now after six weeks of taking alopurinol. Moderate pain in thumb joint and minor pain in the big toes which comes and goes but no full attack.
Allopurinol: I take fist thing in morning and it sometimes makes me drowsy
Allopurinol: I could not even get out of bed in the morning. My fingers and wrists hurt so badly that I could not use my hands to push myself up.
If I did get up, I could not put any pressure on my large toe on either foot.
The uric acid crystals were so large in my fingers that the joints looked like they were stuffed with bean bag filler. No more!
